What is Exercise Physiology?Exercise physiology is the study of how the body responds to physical activity and exercise. This includes acute (short-term) responses, such as increased heart rate, increased breathing rate, and increased metabolic rate. Exercise physiology is also interested in chronic (long-term) responses, such as how the body’s biological systems (e.g., cardiovascular, respiratory, neuromuscular) adapt, becoming more efficient and effective with regular, individualised, and appropriate physical activity.
